Clinical Research Fellow

Date Listed 01 Mar 2018
Reference Number CLS00136
Closing Date 26 Mar 2018
Details In this role you will provide research skills and coordination to a new clinical trial called MiST (mesothelioma stratified Threapy), a national, molecularly stratified parallel 4-arm phase IIA umbrella trial of novel therapy for mesothelioma. Mesothelioma is a universally lethal cancer caused by asbestos for which there are no effective standard treatments after initial chemotherapy. The goal of MiST is to accelerate the discovery and evaluation of effective treatment for this aggressive cancer as part of a wider research programme closely linked to the mesothelioma translational research laboratory.
Further Information The successful candidate will coordinate the enrolment of patients into MiST, coordinate serial biopsies, conduct genomic and transcriptomic analyses of biopsy tissue, and be involved in the development of preclinical models, in order to explore correlations between mutations and drug response, or to unravel potential mechanisms underlying acquired drug resistance. The post is suitable for a clinically trained investigator, particularly those in specialist training for medical oncology, medicine or surgery, or for those eligible and planning to enter the specialist training grade and who are interested in pursuing a period of full time research leading to a higher degree (MD or PhD).
