The University of Leicester, in collaboration with Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (http://www.leicspart.nhs.uk/Default.aspx ) is seeking applications to appoint a Chair/Honorary Consultant in Psychiatry. It is anticipated that the appointee will be supported by the appointment of an Associate Professor/Honorary Consultant in due course and will be involved in the recruitment of this post. You will act as an ambassador and represent your work and that of the Department in the best possible way and raise the external profile of research in Leicester. You will contribute to the excellence of teaching, enterprise and leadership within the department and more widely. This post will be based academically in the College of Medicine, Biological Sciences and Psychology , Centre for Medicine and clinically at Leicestershire Partnership Trust. Research will also be supported by the Research and Development team within the Trust. Applicants must hold an MD or PhD and be able to maintain and further develop a programme of high quality, competitive research capable of securing substantial external funding. Research should extend or complement existing areas of research within the University and the NHS. Applicants will be registered medical practitioners who have, or are eligible for, a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or an equivalent approved indicator of training, and eligible for entry onto the Specialist Register in Psychiatry, and who are, or are eligible to be, registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise. In addition candidates must be eligible for Section 12 of the Mental Health Act approval. The appointee will be awarded honorary consultant contract with Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust, for clinical duties undertaken which will be either in urban (City Central) or rural adult community services (South Leicestershire), or in liaison psychiatry. The clinical duties will be determined by the appointees experience and preference for the clinical area of work. The Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) is a teaching Trust. Besides providing training for Foundation year and Psychiatry trainees, the Trust also provides teaching and training for General Practitioners.
